| Dillingham Hall Punahou School |
Dillingham Hall on the campus of Punahou School was designed and built in 1927 by noted architect, Bertram
Goodhue. This auditorium was originally designed to be naturally ventilated, but heat and humidity detracted from the
enjoyment of performances. The necessity of open windows during performances would allow dust and traffic noise
to enter the auditorium, contributing to audience discomfort.
Renovation and restoration of the building interior challenged Notkin Hawaii Inc. to integrate an "invisible" air
conditioning system into the new building features. Imaginative use of air supply and return ducts transformed
functional components into handsome design elements.
Notkin Hawaii Inc. also provided plumbing, ventilation and fire protection systems for this award wining project.
